Pixie Plus Craft Machine by Singer - So misunderstood & Un-Loved
Welcome to my Spunky Review!
Hello fellow bloggers!
I got a new toy today and to be honest at first I was so upset after I read some of the reviews.......even before I opened the box.... (why do I do that... after the fact researching thing? Who knows!) Anyway, on average the reviews on several sites - 2 Stars..... WOW!
Sooooo after feeling like someone let the air out of my balloon, I decided to do a little more research, check out some videos on the youtube, play with it myself ALL to better poised to play with my new little toy and give what I hope to be an informative ScrapBooker’S ReViEw!
Ok, my two cents worth.....
Initial knee jerk reactions after reading at least 30 reviews or more..... majority of the customers that gave the low marks purchased it for the purpose of having a portable general purpose sewing machine or a starter machine for a young lady in their family........... and it simply is not suitable for that! As the name implies it is for the purpose of craft sewing and I take that to mean “Paper” and that is how it was represented to me by the wonderful clerk that helped me make my purchase. Now I do realize that the term “Craft” extends beyond the realm of paper ~ but honestly at about $45-$65 how industrial do folks expect it to be!
First Impressions - Right out of the Box
Pros:
Packed very securely - box within a box - inset foam mold custom fit to machine
Includes Power Cord (has optional battery operation mode) & we all know most vendors rather us purchase batteries then supply the power supply cord...not here.. included!
Eight Stitches Settings - Favorites for Scrappers (according to Nicole.... I AGREE!) are 3 & 7!
Lots of Extras - a box filled with 16 (I think or more) metal pre-loaded bobbins in several colors of thread, and then matching threads, buttons, measure tape, needles PLUS!
Pre-threaded with a sample stitched material in the machine from factory .... Yeah! Yes, Pre-threaded!
Cons:
Thread Broke 1st time I used it...... but I soon discovered it was operator error!!!!
Foot Pedal is Cheap and Light - doesn’t stay down or secure well..... hummmmm - maybe tape!
VERY HARD DIRECTIONS TO FOLLOW! - This is why we have the internet I decided... searching I went.......
I was having such a difficult time figuring out how to re-thread my machine and change out the colors of the bobbin and threads (honestly - I was making a mountain out of a mole hill - I promise you!!!!) When I bumped into a wonderful video on Youtube and it was so easy after that!!!! Here is the video - hopefully it will help you as much as it helped me to love my machine! Click below if you would like to see it too... Her name is Nicole from Scrapology!
