My First Card!
I know it has been awhile but with the holidays........ well you all know how that goes! I did enjoy a little time learning some new techniques from Tim Holtz with his 12 tags of Christmas series........ it was so much fun learning what to do with all the neat inks, embossing powders and stamps I had laying around in my studio only collecting dust! I honestly didn't know were to begin but now...... I am in love with stamping and playing with all the inks, dyes and powders...... so much fun!
Here is the first card I made a few nights ago -
I got a steal of a deal from a lady selling off all her stamping supplies - I found her on Craig's list and when I tell you a steal....... I mean a STEAL!!!
For $100 bucks I received the following: (and this is what I can remember.......)
at least 15 complete sets of stamp kits, the ink spinning carousel completely filled with ink pads including their coordinating refill bottles, 14 rolling stamps - both wide and regular sizes, the handles, the ink cartridges, ink pad cleaner, ink cleaner bottles full, 4 ink blender pens, 10 markers, two punch and stamp kits (I have no idea what they are called but they have a punch, 8 stamps and three ink pads in each kit in a tin box.... really cool!) 10 stamping up idea books and catalogs, several organizers, around 15 various other stamps from different manufactures, tons of pencils and pens, two large punches, a paper crimping tool, a bone folder, tons of embossing kits and powders, the list goes on and on........... after doing a little research I found that the carousel filled with ink alone was worth more than I paid for everything (retail value)! I literally received thousands of dollars worth of stamping supplies for only $100! I actually asked her if she was a sales rep for Stampin Up as she had so much of it...... and she said no way, I just liked stamping and now I want to make beaded jewelry so I am clearing out my craft room to make room for beads!!!!!
You have got to LoVe rich people that bore easily!!!!!!!
Here are a few pictures of some of the goodies...... excuse the mess - still trying to find homes for all the goodies!

Organizing and Storage Tips
| I love my paper organizers... I purchased this wall system from a local scrapbook store that was going out of business ~ and for super cheap! |
Organizing and figuring out just were to put all this neat stuff.....................
Yes, it can be a daunting task, but it can also be a fun one in which you will need to pull from within ~ your most creative inclinations.... Ok, so have I pumped any of you up with all that fancy talk yet? Hopefully, I didn't scare anyone away.....
Seriously scrappers.... we have to know were everything is or at the very least ..... were it goes in order to grab it when that spark or in some cases explosion of creativity comes along.
The is nothing worse than needing ...... THAT PAPER.... you know the perfect one with all the glitter and oh yes THAT INK yes the ink that matches those adorable little swirly designs going down the side of that perfect paper ........ Ohhhh it that would be just perfect for this layout........ but YIKES were is it?
If this is you....... stay tuned for some ideas, inspirational photos of my journey or more appropriately termed quest to de-clutter my space plus I will try to add in some photos of other's awesome spaces that I have come along during my travels down the internet highway gathering ideas. To get you started, here are a few great books that I have used to get some of my ideas from, but don't stop here, I have dedicated an entire section on my main website for organization tips and stores to purchase items from - click here if you want to check it out later... http://www.spunkymonkeyscraptopia.com/spunkymonkey/Organize_Your_Space.html Be sure to check back often as I am always updating my site with the latest greatest!
For more books, software, and ideas be sure and check out my web site http://www.spunkymonkeyscraptopia.com/spunkymonkey/Home.html..... updating it now! Here are just a few picture ideas I snapped to get you thinking about your space..... I hope you enjoy looking at mine!
| This is one of my favorite items..... I am not sure if they are still available... I have been searching both on-line and in person and no luck so far! If I find them I will post a link! |
A Nice Desk Top Version and also nice to your pocketbook...... yes, again with the budget stuff! Sorry scrappers but I am always looking for the deals! Anyway, this is cute and will keep your ribbons handy for you in a pinch!
Watch for the next blog.......... paper organization! I decided since this organizing stuff is no easy or simple task that I would break down the various sections in my space (mainly the ones I had issues with and I am guessing you may too...) and provide as much detail and directions with tips and information! If anyone has any great ideas they would like to post............. then join us in this challenge of getting our spaces organized!

Pixie Plus Craft Sewing Machine by Singer..... Friend or Foe...... Read On!
Pixie Plus Craft Machine by Singer - So misunderstood & Un-Loved
Welcome to my Spunky Review!
Hello fellow bloggers!
I got a new toy today and to be honest at first I was so upset after I read some of the reviews.......even before I opened the box.... (why do I do that... after the fact researching thing? Who knows!) Anyway, on average the reviews on several sites - 2 Stars..... WOW!
Sooooo after feeling like someone let the air out of my balloon, I decided to do a little more research, check out some videos on the youtube, play with it myself ALL to better poised to play with my new little toy and give what I hope to be an informative ScrapBooker’S ReViEw!
Ok, my two cents worth.....
Initial knee jerk reactions after reading at least 30 reviews or more..... majority of the customers that gave the low marks purchased it for the purpose of having a portable general purpose sewing machine or a starter machine for a young lady in their family........... and it simply is not suitable for that! As the name implies it is for the purpose of craft sewing and I take that to mean “Paper” and that is how it was represented to me by the wonderful clerk that helped me make my purchase. Now I do realize that the term “Craft” extends beyond the realm of paper ~ but honestly at about $45-$65 how industrial do folks expect it to be!
First Impressions - Right out of the Box
Pros:
Packed very securely - box within a box - inset foam mold custom fit to machine
Includes Power Cord (has optional battery operation mode) & we all know most vendors rather us purchase batteries then supply the power supply cord...not here.. included!
Eight Stitches Settings - Favorites for Scrappers (according to Nicole.... I AGREE!) are 3 & 7!
Lots of Extras - a box filled with 16 (I think or more) metal pre-loaded bobbins in several colors of thread, and then matching threads, buttons, measure tape, needles PLUS!
Pre-threaded with a sample stitched material in the machine from factory .... Yeah! Yes, Pre-threaded!
Cons:
Thread Broke 1st time I used it...... but I soon discovered it was operator error!!!!
Foot Pedal is Cheap and Light - doesn’t stay down or secure well..... hummmmm - maybe tape!
VERY HARD DIRECTIONS TO FOLLOW! - This is why we have the internet I decided... searching I went.......
I was having such a difficult time figuring out how to re-thread my machine and change out the colors of the bobbin and threads (honestly - I was making a mountain out of a mole hill - I promise you!!!!) When I bumped into a wonderful video on Youtube and it was so easy after that!!!! Here is the video - hopefully it will help you as much as it helped me to love my machine! Click below if you would like to see it too... Her name is Nicole from Scrapology!
